Dominican Vocations - Solemn Mass

The solemn celebration of conventual Mass has been part of our tradition since the beginning of the Order. Commemorating as it does both the sacrifice of our redemption on the cross and the incarnation which preceded this and made it possible, the daily celebration of Mass has been a special object of Dominican devotion. As the principal liturgical celebration of the Church, it is the Mass which unites Dominican communities and which gives it its direction: our total self-offering with Christ to the Father. As St Augustine puts it, our celebration of the Eucharistic Sacrifice should make us a “Holy Society” united with God.
