Launched - Prayer for Vocations Initiative

A initiative for promoting prayer for Dominican vocations was launched quietly on Sunday 15th January.
With a specially commissioned yet modest icon of St Dominic and some prayer cards with the same image, the new initiative was launched among the enclosed Dominican nuns in County Louth (http://www.dominicannuns.ie).
The icon of St Dominic will be spending time in different Dominican churches around the island of Ireland after its first few weeks with the Dominican nuns.
The presence of the icon will serve as an invitation for those who frequent Dominican churches in Ireland to continue praying for vocations and to begin praying for that intention if they have not already done so.
A prayer is proposed (and printed on the prayer cards) for people to use which is based upon the vocations prayer of the Dominicans in Poland.
Already many individuals and groups pray this particular prayer since it was published in September 2007, most of them in a quiet and personal fashion.
The first station for the icon of St Dominic will be in February at St Malachy's Dominican church, Anne Street, Dundalk, County Louth where the vocations director will also be preaching at the Novena in Honour of Our Lady of Lourdes.
Further details regarding the icon and the prayer initiative will follow on this website.
If you would like copies of the new prayer card with the image of St Dominic and the prayer for Dominican Vocations, don't hesitate to make contact with the Vocations Director by following this link: http://dominicanfriars.ie/contact-us.html
Prayer for Dominican Vocations:
Lord Jesus,as you once called Saint Dominic to preach the Gospel,
so now send preachers into your harvest.
Give them courage, wisdom and grace to make them faithful witnesses of your death, resurrection and return in glory.
Through the intercession of Mary, patroness of the Order,
may they bring true faith and light to brighten the darkness.
You who live forever. Amen.
