Priestly Ordination of Brian Doyle OP

On Saturday 3rd September Brian Doyle, o.p., an Irish Dominican, was ordained to the priesthood in his native home of Murrintown, County Wexford.
Fr Brian was joined by his Dominican confrères, priests of the diocese of Ferns, family and friends in the celebration over which the bishop of Ferns, Most Reverend Denis Brennan, presided.
Fr Brian had trained as an engineer in what was University College, Galway (now NUIG), obtained a doctorate from Queen's University Belfast and returned to lecture at NUIG before entering the novitiate of the Irish Dominicans at Limerick in 2004. There followed studies in the Irish Dominican house of studies, Dublin, then at NUI Maynooth and finally at the Faculty of Theology, Fribourg, Switzerland. He returns now to Switzerland to begin postgraduate studies in theology.
Fr Brian is pictured above with his parents, Joan and Brian senior. Fr Brian's elder brother Fr Jim Doyle is a priest of the diocese of Ferns; Fr Brian's twin brother Br Rory is a Conventual Franciscan Friar (OFM Conv).
Two weeks after this celebration is planned the priestly ordination of two further Irish Dominican brothers in the Dominican Church of St Saviour, Dominick Street, Dublin 1, on Sunday 18th September beginning at 11.30am.
