Opening of Academic Year 2012-2013

The academic year was opened formally for the Irish Dominican student brothers in Dublin on 29th September.
On the feast of the archangels, a votive Mass of the Holy Spirit was celebrated by regent of the Irish Dominican province, Fr John Harris OP, who is also moderator of the Centre of Institutional Studies, Dublin.
Fr Harris was also preacher at the Mass during which he spoke on the invitation "to enter through the door of fafith to come to the knowledge of God, a knowledge which God has shared with us of himself in the person of Christ and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the life of the Church."
There are at present fourteen student brothers living in the Dominican priory in Dublin and they study either in NUI Maynooth or in the Dominican Centre of Institutional Studies.
The remaining eight brothers in initial formation for our province live in Cork, six of them being novices and two of them are priests who joined the Order in recent years.
